TECHNOLOGY
Our SD-WAN™ flagship technology (Software Definable Wavelength
Agile Networking) represents the next logical step to WDM evolution. SD-WAN
allows multiple wavelengths of a wavelength division multiplexed
(WDM) network to be considered as a single high capacity unified
channel. The SD WAN solution permits intercommunication
between independent WDM channels and brings a totally new concept
for handling and securing data being transported over optical
infrastructures which increases optical networks efficiency and
agility.

dō networks SD WAN Features/Benefits:
- Saves money to the operators and offers competitive
edge for manufacturers
- Bringing intelligence to layer 2 allows to simplify transport
and switching layers while offering advanced technical capabilities
- Distributed traffic switching function leads to a reduction
in the size of the switching layer
- SD- WAN next generation solution will allow, for multi-hosting
capability, master node convergence over large optical BUS
- Enables higher payload efficiency solutions
- High capacity “Bus” provides up to 160% statistical efficiency
compared to current Switched Ethernet solutions
- Extends the concept of statistical multiplexing to the
wavelength level, much greater efficiency utilization of
bandwidth in multi-wavelength networks
- Increases flexibility in bandwidth, latency and priority
management, allowing a totally arbitrary approach to bandwidth
allocation between customers and traffic account classification
for priority management
- Avoids/reduces the need for new fiber cable deployment
- Increased efficiency translates into higher fiber capacity
leading to freeing-up fibers (e.g., in MSO ‘Deep Fiber Access’
infrastructures, freed-up fibers now available to grab SMBs
market)
- Substantial fiber deployment savings ($B)
- The future is now
- Establishes leading edge positioning for HUGE emerging
market: $B market opportunity
- Technology is now available
- Allows gradual infrastructure growth to follow traffic
demand, permitting gradual capital expenditures and avoiding
inefficient network overbuilds
- Keeps the optical layer at its simplest expression
- Low cost optical layer – Min CAPEX
- Low complexity optical layer – Min OPEX
- Totally static optical layer – No reconfigurable elements
needed, no moving parts – High reliability
- Offers benefits for
- In the field upgrades
- Transported signals analysis in real-time
- Dynamic bandwidth management
- Network monitoring
- Network reliability in case of wavelength failure is improved
with automatic reassignment of wavelengths

« Silicon is less expensive than silica… »
PRODUCT
This new technology can be used over a wide variety of network topologies (e.g. ring, mesh, linear, point-to-multi-points, etc.). An important feature is that it allows network operators to grow their networks by gradually adding capacity when limits of the installed capacity are reached. This contrasts with forklift network upgrades where radical and expensive technology changes are taken at once, requiring substantial punctual capital expenditures and network overbuilds.

External testing was successfully completed by the International Institute of Telecommunications
